Τιμητική διάκριση του πρωτοψάλτη Αργυρίου Δίντση από την Χαρίεσσα
The ‘profession of the cantor’ was the central theme of an event included in the series of activities of the16th Pavleia. The event was presented on Sunday, June 13, at the Pavlion Cultural Center - formerly Medrese Mosque - with the honored person being the lead cantor Argyrios Dintsis.
The Metropolitan of Veria, Naoussa and Campania, Mr. Panteleimon, emphasized that Argyrios Dintsis combines not only the gift of the voice but also the ordination and expresses the centuries-old, sacred hymn writers who composed and wrote the hymns of the church.
Father Leonidas Afendoulis, who apprenticed next to the master lead singer Argyrios Dintsis, then presented the honored person. Coming from a generation of clergy and cantors, Argyrios Dintsis, born in 1927 in Hariessa Anthemion, stood out from a very young age for his musical talent and, despite the difficulties the war imposed upon his family, he struggled to perfect his knowledge alongside the great teacher Athanasios Karamanis. After completing his theoretical training, he began his chanting ministry in Pella and then in Veria, in the church of Agios Antonios, church of Ag. Savva (Kyriotissa) and from 1979 until 1989 in the sanctuary of the Diocese.
Authentic, traditional, diligent and methodical, he continued his teaching at the School of Byzantine Music founded in 1978 by Blessed Paul and receiving the honorary plaque, unable to hide his emotion, the leading lead singer Argyrios Dintsis thanked Metropolitan Father Leonidas Afendouli who presented him, and the choir of the Association of Chanters of the Holy Metropolis of Veria and Naoussa that decorated the event with psalms and hymns under the direction of Jordan Zerdalis. The event was coordinated by Mr. George Ordoulidis.
